Pastors' Aides

The primary goal of Pastors Aides is to remind people that they are still an important part of our church family. They may not be able to participate fully in the life of the church but they are still vital to it and are not forgotten. We remind them that we are concerned about them and that we pray for them. Our visit just might remind nursing home staff or other caregivers that this is a person who is cherished and checked-up on. Someone cares!

Sometimes we take things to them when visiting. We share a daily devotional booklet; at Christmas we take tins of cookies; and for the past few Easters we’ve had construction paper baskets that one of our parishioners and her grandchildren make for us. Some Pastors’ Aides take cookies or flowers or other little gifts, but that is not required. We also leave a business card.

Our group has a wonderful co-chairman who sends a birthday card to everyone on the list of those we visit. She also sends sympathy cards when there is a death in our church family, congratulation cards when there’s a baby and other cards when she sees the need.
