Why do we do what we do? That's the question we'll explore this Sunday as we turn to Exodus 12, the story of the Passover. There are many questions that can grow from this formative event in the life of Israel. One that comes to my mind is why did God need to smite the Egyptians' first born? Why punish all Egypt for the sin of the Pharaoh? (cont.) But at its core, this story explains why Passover is celebrated as it is. It explains why they do what they do.

In worship this Sunday, we'll take the opportunity this text affords to talk about why we do what we do as Presbyterians. Why do we worship in the order we worship? Why do we celebrate communion as we do? Why do we order our life as a congregation by the polity we use? Answering the why’s of the what’s helps us define who and ultimately how we are called to live. While we all might answer these questions a little differently, the commonality of our response points to the unity of purpose with find together in Christ.

I hope to see you this Sunday as we deal with the what’s and the why’s of the how’s in order to define who we are and whose we are.

In Christ,
Joe
